clay play.

Today in our after school club for 5-7yr olds. We played with clay. I realised soon after handing out the blobs of clay, that the children didn't know how to use it. The thought that they'd maybe never seen, touched or been tought how to use clay didn't cross my mind in the beginning. So today after playing an Isrealite sock puppet who was rebuilding an ancient temple, if you can imagine such a thing, it was off to play with clay. It was a special experience to see them learn to form it and shape it and how it works. They made some lovely and incredibly creative things. I'll talke some photos once they've painted them.
